Importance of an Accredited Degree

Importance of an Accredited Degree

November 30, 1999

You might be asking yourself why the topic of accreditation appears so many times on this site! Because whether or not a school is accredited is important. It is very important!

The last thing you want to do is pay 5,000 USD to a degree which is illegal to use.

After spending long years of study going from kindergarten to high school, college is the most important step in your educational formation. Enrolling in an institution of recognized accreditation is important.  This accreditation must either be issued by an agency or an accrediting organization to make sure the college meet standards in services, facilities and education programs.Accreditation may help students to start their professional life after earning their online degrees. Big corporations may find value in your degree if your knowledge comes from an accredited institution when applying for a job.

Types of Accreditation

There are different types of accreditation.  None of them guarantee that you will get your dream job in a day; however, earning your online degree from an accredited school may improve your chances of entering into a promising work environment with a quality company.

Some types of accreditation are specific to a college, such as technical and trade schools, or Bible universities; other types of accreditation are determined by regional, national or international organizations. Depending on the accreditation program in which you are participating, how much it contributes towards your professional life will be more or less satisfactory.  Although it might seem that nobody will be asking you how did you obtain your degree, when you apply for a job or go for the next level in your studies, such low quality accreditations, if not illusory, would be detected easily by the expert eye.

Do Your Homework--BEFORE You Enroll in any Degree Program

If you want to succeed in business, it is crucial to carefully select the field or activities you will be involved in when obtaining a degree from an accredited college.  Never choose those programs labeled as "cool" if they are not related to quality educational institutions.  Beware of schools that cost less than any renowned college. Savings in costs is often associated to pseudo learning groups with no recognized accreditation. In addition, such unaccredited schools usually offer a faster path to a degree or scheduling flexibility.  Even worse, when seeking college enrollment, you may find a branch of fraudulent organizations offering worthless degrees for sale if there is someone willing to pay for them; as mentioned in other articles on degree.net, "diploma mills" make millions of dollars per year by taking advantage of hard-working people; they offer them "an easier way to obtain a degree", when in reality, they are taking their money and sending them a fake degree!

Why Investing in Your Education is Worth the Time and Money

Investing in your education is an asset, so do not be shy when putting money and time into a proper education program from an accredited school. Quality educational institutions make the commitment to provide you with quality education; a school's accreditation status becomes an important factor in which quality schools take great pride in displaying.  If you are interested in earning your master degree and you you cannot afford it, remember that there are many other degree levels that you may obtain when money or time are factors.  Most Bachelors degree programs count with endorsed accreditation and it is so easy to obtain a degree that is worth more than any other unaccredited programs or fake degrees offered as a quick course online or one-time sending via snail mail.

How Can you Tell the Difference Between a Fake Degree and a Real Degree from an Accredited School?

A question that is usually answered with the words "common sense." If the regular enrollment program takes 2 year of studies for the Bachelor degree, do not expect to have a valid accreditation with a course lasting 3 months or less.  Remember that accreditation is a voluntary and independent review of available educational programs to make sure education meets the quality that you expect and deserve.
