Health degrees in Ohio best bet for healthy job growth

There is a good range of pay and growth potential, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, with health degrees in OH. Some jobs require graduate work or certification or both. Here are just a few possibilities:

Medical and health services managers made as of May 2009 a mean annual salary in Ohio of $83,120. Projected growth of 13.2 percent job openings is expected between 2008 and 2018. Nationwide, 41 percent of medical and health service managers have their master's degrees. A voluntary certification is available to be a Registered Health Information Administrator, or RHIA.

Health educators earned a mean annual salary of $42,920 as of May 2009, with just 8.6 percent projected growth between 2008 and 2018. A highly recommended but voluntary certification is available as well.

Athletic trainers had a mean salary of $42,860 as of May 2009 with a strong job growth outlook of 35.6 percent new jobs predicted between 2008 and 2018. Nationwide, 41 percent have their master's degrees. Certification is required by the state for professional practice.
