Utah projects a very good job market for registered nurses with almost 7000 positions opening up by 2016 and the state's technology industries may add about 5,700 software engineers during the same period.

The U.S. Census Bureau reports that almost 29 percent of Utah's adult residents have a bachelor's degree and about 9 percent have an advanced degree. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the mean annual salary in 2009 for a registered nurse in Utah was about $59,370 and software engineers earned about $83,350.
