The majority of accountants and auditors hold a bachelor's degree in accounting, and many also have earned a master's degree in accounting or MBA. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that employment opportunities for accountants and auditors is expected to grow by 22 percent between 2008 and 2018.
It's a career that has tremendous financial earnings potential. The median wage for an accountant in 2009 was $60,340, with the lowest 10 percent earning $37,690 and the highest 90 percent earning $104,450.
