Environmental Science blurb
Environmental science is the study of the earth and its processes, of the habitats, niches, and systems that make up the world. Its applications are many, and as time passes, its importance should continue to grow as the world shrinks and environmental space becomes premium. Some might say that a degree in environmental science is a key to a successful career future in any field that makes use of the environment.
Education & Career Opportunities in Environmental Science
A range of degrees in environmental science is available, from undergraduate bachelor's degrees, to master's and PhDs. Different environmental science jobs require various levels of education, but in any science field, additional credentials are always a plus.
Environmental scientists look for solutions to pollution and other problems, including global warming concerns, trash disposal methods, and oil spills. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, environmental scientists earned median salaries of $61,010 in 2009, and the field continues growing, as populations expand, and pollution problems grow.
People with environmental science degrees can also teach the subject at any grade level. Teaching would generally require a bachelor's degree and/or certification, and would yield a corresponding variety of annual wages. Environmental science teaching jobs are also expected to expand, as awareness of environmental concerns becomes paramount.
