Veterinarians must graduate from an accredited veterinary college and then pass a state license exam. Many veterinary schools require a bachelor's degree for admittance, and all require between 45-90 hours of undergraduate work, preferably in a pre-veterinary program.
Veterinarians must have a strong background in the sciences, and many programs require a liberal arts core including literature and humanities. Foundational business principles have recently been included in the veterinary curriculum.
